  1. Hmmm. It's the mixed messages that give me pause. So the underlying theme here is that being a Christian, going to church and reading that religion's sacred writings will give birth to good human beings with wonderful character. How did this conclusion come about when clearly Africa's (and for that matter the world's) experience with such has been that it seems to breed heartless, hypocritical monsters who hate anyone who doesn't bend to it's doctrines, call the Creator by it's name, and such. It especially teaches us to hate, disrespect, and be ashamed of our ancestors and our own religions and names for the Creator. The hypocrisy of the system (and its brother co-religions) is very off-putting and very obvious. So now the "good" girls cover their head when reading the bible, wear various wigs to cover their own beautiful hair (which they seem to have forgotten how to wear and adorn in various styles besides straight back cornrows) and such. At least it doesn't show them bleaching the melanin out of their skin…I 'm always disappointed when stories with a good plot wither down to just another proselytizing media project. Maybe one day, we'll wake up to the game that's been run on us and have enough pride and wisdom to come back to and embrace our own very wonderful, very holy, very blessed, and very ancient cultures/religions. We really can do better than this.
