The Web Series’s back, and Season 2 is finally here!

This season’s first episode “From Discovery to Devotion” Features Gia Fu and Brenda Navarrete. This new episode asks what it means to find something that was always yours, and discovers that the distance between two worlds is often shorter than either expected.

About Gia: born in Hong Kong, Gia has spent over a decade tracing the historical threads connecting Asian heritage to Afro-Latin music. She became the first Asian woman to tour as a Latin music DJ, produced a Grammy-nominated artist’s big-band salsa album with thirty musicians in Puerto Rico, and leads Canton Mambo, a project dedicated to making visible what was always already there. Her work is what happens when passion is disciplined enough to become scholarship.

About @brendanavarreteoficial Born in Havana and trained at the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory, Brenda Navarrete is a vocalist, percussionist, composer, and one of the few women to master the batá, a sacred drum historically reserved for men in Yoruba-rooted religious practice. Her music moves between Afro-Cuban jazz, folklore, and spiritual devotion without asking permission from any of them. She carries her roots the way the batá carries rhythm: with precision, with reverence, and with everything she has.
