She walked away from a Lagos billionaire engagement.

He was a village farmer who did not know her father’s name.

This is the complete THE PRICE OF LOVE trilogy in one feature film.

Three parts. Fifty-three minutes. One Nigerian cinematic love story.

⚜️ THE STORY

Amara Nwosu is the only daughter of a Nigerian shipping magnate. On the morning she is to confirm her engagement to a Lagos senator’s son, she walks out of the yacht-party celebration with a duffel bag and eight thousand naira in her hand. She boards a 14-seater bus heading east. She does not tell anybody where she is going. She does not yet know herself.

She steps off the bus in an Eastern Nigerian Igbo village called Umuahara. She sleeps on the dust floor of an abandoned building. On the second morning she is found by a 31-year-old farmer named Obinna and his 73-year-old grandmother Mama Nneka. They do not know her father’s name. They do not know her bank balance. They feed her. They give her a roof. They ask her for nothing.

For one month and twelve days Amara becomes someone she has never been allowed to be. She sweeps a compound. She fetches water from a stream. She learns to pound cassava with grandmothers. She dances at the New Yam Festival. She kisses a farmer at a hidden waterfall while the water keeps falling behind them.

Then a young NYSC corper’s TikTok travelogue catches her face in the background of a village square pan. Four seconds of footage. That is all it takes for Lagos to find her. Her father arrives by helicopter. He throws a brown envelope of cash at the man who saved his daughter’s life. He drags her back to Lagos in a black convoy.

Three days later she stands at her own engagement party in a deep crimson Stéphane Rolland gown with three hundred guests, the First Lady, and a senator’s son waiting at the stage.

She takes the microphone. And she does not put the ring on.

⚜️ CONTENT NOTE

This film contains dramatic content including a parent-child separation scene and themes of arranged engagement and family conflict. Recommended for viewers 16 and over.

  3. This story it's extremely wonderful I like the way Amara said a big NO to the arranged marriage and follow her heart and again a real man doesn't see a woman as a TRANSACTION but as love of his life and he's prepared to love you unconditionally watching from Johannesburg South Africa
