  1. I have watched this good movie with critical and analytical lense.
I am a Pan-African, I was born into a very religious home and community.
It is very important to note that the script writer tried his/her best to produce a movie which would largely suit a certain demographic of religious people and also counter balance it with a theme that would suit another religious group. Let me break that down.

The African religious spiritual science/system (ARSS) has suffered greatly in the hands of European Christianity and Arabian Islam. Both used as a tool of subjugation. This is well recorded, researched and cited by many scholars. In this instance in the movie, it was the ARSS has once again come under Islamised attack, where the generational problem being described was procured from a Babalawo and his deities just like many Christianised portray ARSS. This is not acceptable to a pristine mind because the same could be done in reverse.

My commendation however, is the fact that, the writer tried to provide some balancing measure through the marriage between Michael and Laila. This is a very significant theme in this movie even though it wasn't explored fully but very significant in our effort to build cohesion between different religions on our continent.πŸ‘πŸΎ

That been said, the vilification of ARSS in any form should stop because there are many things we must learn and relearn about ARSS and it's significance in our lives.
For your information, while Africans are running away from their Ancestral heritage, others in the diaspora including Caribbeans, North and South Americans of African decent are embracing and seeking to learn more about themselves and their African spirituality.
It is time to return, in Akan one Adinkra philosophy called SANKOFA describes the urgency and need to return and take back/pick up/ fetch what we lost or left behind because they belong to us and must not be despised.

In all it is a good movie by Toyin Abraham, Bimbo Akintola, Lanre Hassan and others.

It is time for religious conservatives to prioritise our unity and allow marriages across religious traditions. We have broken the barrier of inter-ethnic marriages, it is time to put the final blow on the stronghold preventing inter-religious marriages. That stronghold is empowered by "not loving ourselves" as Africans. Therefore we as a people must renew our minds (psychological) for a brighter future.
    Thank you. ❀

  4. Wow, this movie is so educational, generational cause is what is affecting so many African families, if God did not help u to break that chain, it will destroy your future, the bible says God will visit the iniquities of our forefathers down to the third and fourth generations. Thank u for putting this into a movie.
