In 1969, CBS News released a very controversial report — an unfiltered look into the Nigeria–Biafra War. This documentary revisits that groundbreaking broadcast that explored the causes of the Biafran conflict, the humanitarian crisis that shocked the world, and the voices of political and military leaders from both sides. Through rare archival footage and firsthand interviews, we uncover how the struggle for Biafran independence, ethnic tensions, and colonial legacies led to one of Africa’s darkest chapters.

This sad report was filmed in 1969, the war would go on for a few more months. For a more complete look at the Nigerian Civil War, watch my video on the real cause of the war, the political rivalry, ethnic tension, the struggle over Biafra’s secession and ultimate surrender here: https://youtu.be/h0Xf6MeiD4g?si=E9C30Mb-7AUbW6fP
Long live Biafra! Ode to determination!
Do the Igbos even look physically different from the other Nigerian tribes?
Is Africa any different to what it was back then
General Gowon ❤
To all the CRAZY Igbo people. Give up on the Biafra dream.
All prople the Fulani used to fight Biafra are paying the price today!
You fought to bring the Igbo into one Nigeria, but the Fulani massacre your people today. So much for one Nigeria!
So cubana chiefpriest aka belle nabwater open his big mouth to say Igbos were defeated?? He should watch this video and appreciate the resilience of the Igbos despite their limited arsenal and ammunition..I don't blame him, anywhere belle face, na where his brain dey..smh
I'm a proud Igbo woman, proudly Biafran..Igbotic all the way, Biafran will come one day
My ancestors ❤❤
My only real experience was the occasional story in my School's 'Weekly Reader' and the occasional news story.
The commentor here isn't saying the truth of all the things that happened during the war. He even said the armies were paid $40 a month when at the time Nigeria was still using Pounds and Penny. By using Dollars in his comments means he doesn't know what he's talking about.
Just imagine the Biafra people haven the food access, Nigeria wouldn't have dare cross the border
The don't know anything about war, that's why even in the agitation of Biafra now they fights gorilla warfare they wouldn't come close to the Biafran soldiers, instead they preferred going after unarmed civilians and erasing a community
Semper Fi brothers, never again…
The bridge can be repaired but the hate can never be…it's still there😢
Thank you for this unbiased report on the Nigerian civil war of 1967-1970. It seems no lessons have been learnt from it as Nigeria is at the brink of another civil war right now.
If they fail to let BIAFRANS go in peace, history will repeat itself again, the death of our people can never be in vain
The Igbos were brain washed. RIP to the fallen
I was 6 years old in the defunct Midwestern region when the war began. We were watching the Nigerian army recruitment exercise in my community in Delta state. It's a very sad memory.
Population control. African style.
Na that last days go kill una
The tragedy that is Nigeria is pitiful. Largely due to incessant greed, egocentricity, and corruption of her politicians and military. Nigeria is tettering on the precipice of a failed state!
The Vampire Gowan says the nicest things with his mouth. But inside his heart it's a Satanic kingdom, he opens the Satanic verse for the innocent children's of Biafrans which he staves to their earlier childhood Graves. God cursed the place this man was born 🙏 A pathological liar in that matter. See your Nigeria that you killed 12 millions Igbos for? Go Ahead With One Nigeria, why not?
This is what I will watch finish and someone will stand before me, and say proudly Nigerian, we will fight till last man standing.
Imagine few people without adequate weapons, yet a fully trained Nigerian Army couldn't defeat this small group of people. Biafra lives forever
They look like Fulani
4:27 Sallah prayer 🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤
7:20 Killing non Igbo politicians 😮😮😮
Ojukwu 😂😂😂😂😂 Igbo 😂😂😂😂😂 Inyamuri 😂😂😂🎉
20:30 Arewa 🎉❤🎉❤🎉
Ojukwu was not ready for war ,as of the time Nigeria army declared war
Before the massacre that lead the crisis which eventually turned to the civil war, Igbos where hated because of their higher enterprise nature, ahmadu bello hated the Igbos so much tell BBC 1967 that would prefer a foreigner than an Igbo to work in the north.
The war that shouldn't have happened. No plans no comon sense. Negotiations were better
We need a stronger leader to lead us again
Wasn't born when the Biafra war took place but the story lives rent free in my head. Lost an uncle to Biafra war and about 85% of families in Igbo land lost someone to the war
Who saw assumpta cathedral?
Biafra and Nigeria are one.
I wish Biafra won
