I really don't think the movie had a moral lesson. He had to hurt and abuse Cecilia emotionally, mentally and psychologically so many times before he knew he had to step up. He exposed her sex, alcoholism and his frivolous lifestyle at such a young age. She was just twelve years old for crying out loud. He called her a mistake to her face. That's literally the most mind warping thing to say to a child. He abandoned her for twelve years and there was no part in the movie where he owned up to his stupidity initially. He had to use her to learn responsibility. It's really unfair that the movie portrayed her to be forgiving, understanding, caring and loving to a man who wasn't ready to be in her life. He didn't try to get to know her, he didn't even pretend to love her at least, he didn't care and he didn't treat her like a father should treat his own child or anybody's child for that matter. In the end, he got her a phone. He didn't even try to give her the birthday gift in the morning or maybe he would have started treating her better before her birthday so that gift feels like a redemption gift instead of a happy birthday gift. The girl's pain and suffering were not expressed or cared for a lot in the movie but her wayward and stupid father was romanticised and coddled. Plus, y is the name finding my way?? For me it just portrays that men can mess up all they want and treat anybody however they like to "find their way". Let's learn as a society to treat wickedness and neglect like it matters. What if Cecilia had taken the alcohol or cigarettes and because the drugs are too hard for her system, she doesn't survive it?? Would folarin still be finding his way then? I guess not. This is just my little two cents. Ciao 🎀

Except for other life's circumstances such as illness, disability, and death, a child should never be the parent in a household where adults are supposed to act as such. But when that happens, that is when you know that your life is really mess-up and you need fixing. Unfortunately, that is many children around the world are going through every day. This is the reality of their lives. They are victims of consequences not of their own making. Therefore, people should seriously think whether they are ready to a responsible or not before bringing a child into this world. This world is very seldom forgiving. I am glad that the father came around and changed for the better. Great movie to learn from.

My best scene is the football scene😅 Hilarious. Such a lovely film. I hated the fact that Cecilia had to be the adult while Folarin was the child for a period of time. Thank goodness that she's a good girl, well-brought up by her mother like we can infer from the film. Beautiful story.
