Akpabio you are wrong in your characterization of what happened in US during Bush vs Gore election. All results in US elections were transmitted real-time. The only ones that were counted later and added to the results are the mailed-in ballots. In Bush vs Gore, it was the recounting of votes because the difference between them was about 300 votes in Florida. I think people are saying real-time upload of results in the pooling station, which means you have to click send while in pooling station and the data will go automatically when the Wi-Fi becomes available. At that point no one can press recall button to recall it. That's how bank transactions are done all over Nigeria today. It is not true that the network is not available for electronic transmission of results.

Let somebody tell Akpabio that the device being used at the polling unit does not depend on your national grid or even local network. It depends on satellite. The problem with the transmission of results at the last election was not as a result of the failure of any network, but the problem was as a result of an alleged glitche at the backend, which all believe, was humanly contrived to cover up rigging. The system worked smoothly for both the senatorial and house of Reps results transmission, but curiously failed nation wide for the transmission of the presidential results! Pls stop misinforming the public . Nigerians can see your body language.

This man displayed great ignorance of what happened in 2000 U.S. presidential election. The Palm Beach results did not show that Al Gore won. The Supreme Court stopped the country because it was they agreed with Bush that it was going to blow through the December Certification of the result by the electoral college electors that December.
And this was 25 years ago. But most results were electronically transmitted as they came in precinct by precinct. Most results are known on the night of the election. Even if only 85% of results come in by the end of the night, it is better than nothing.
Does Nigeria have more rural areas and undeveloped than Kenya and Botswana? Pass the law and fix what needs to be fixed to make what was passed happen.
