Ramayana is an upcoming Indian epic film produced by Namit Malhotra, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, and written by Sridhar Raghavan. The film is based on the Ramayana, an ancient Indian text and one of the most significant epics of Hinduism. It is the first installment of a planned two-part series.
It features Ranbir Kapoor (as Ram), Ravi Dubey (as Lakshman), Sai Pallavi (as Sita), Sunny Deol (as Hanuman), and Yash (as Raavan) in lead roles. The supporting cast includes Amitabh Bachchan, Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Vivek Oberoi, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Kunal Kapoor, Sheeba Chaddha, Indira Krishnan, and Shobana.
The film has been produced on the largest-ever budget for an Indian film to date, ranging between ₹2,600 and ₹4,000 crore. It is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, and Charles Roven’s American studio, Atlas Entertainment; however, the entire filming and editing process took place in India. The visual effects (VFX) work has been handled by the British-Indian studio, DNEG. The film is scheduled for release in India on November 6, 2026, coinciding with the occasion of Diwali.
