I'm just here for all the ..there was no slave trade comments LOL
Who care really im native american our story is worse. Please stop the crying
Mobile alabama. wellington street .
They should have pour libations to waken the ancestors… The water will be clear
I absolutely love and appreciate learning about slavery. I think they should play these stories in all youth detention centers. We are losing our young black men too often. Too many fathers have walked out of their lives. They have no idea what and where they come from, what occurred to our women, how they were, beat, and why they should change their ways, attitudes and be mindful and respectful of our own.
One disturbing thing about slavery is we Africans sold each other out. If we were United back then slavery may have never happened. Its just really sad. Blame has to be on both sides
Shouldn’t the African slave capturers be of some blame?
Came here through reading Roots, by Alex Haley. Never let how this country was built be ignored, downplayed or covered up. America's agricultural success was fully from the backs of stolen people.
It is really upsetting when you realise what mankind is capable of.
This is a lie , we where already here
Okay so what are they going to do about it give back land give all the reparations back from the stolen ancestors
Australia is a continent with much historical abuse the term use for slave is stolen generation stolen generation were slaves the Britain imperial colonial atrocities massacres committed poLICE brutality in Australia is rampant and aboriginal people are treated as non human
the disgusting evil imperial colonial attitude linger longer and is getting worse
The aboriginal people are called abbos boongs coons
The nice looking clean looking imperial colonial attitude lurking behind the scenes is manifesting evil but that evil is very subtle and not easy to identify or notice
Just don't get your self fooled
The imperial colonial attitude linger longer
We were in a catholic institution for twenty years me my tribe and all around Australia the stolen generation were slave
We are healing
but still getting abused we were released in 1976
That is not long ago
Found out that the Britain France Italy
Are the original barbaric cave people neanthathal
From the Caucasus mountains thier are much caves there the indigenous people empathy toward the imperial colonial attitude is the thing that slow progress
At some point you have to ask yourself, “Is it ok to treat people like this?”. Human can be so cruel.
Im from mobile and that's where that ship was found in African Town im apart of something powerful i love my ppl
This ship still under water??🤔
It was so crazy to hear this will be the 1ST EVER ship found from any slave ship! This wasn’t that long ago, we have artifacts from so much further in history. This is such a huge accomplishment and I’m glad it is being taken seriously and being preserved.
I couldn’t imagine treating another human this way for 5min, my heart could not take it, let alone the weeks that this trip took, then what took place after. I’m glad I can’t understand what someone who could do this was thinking as I’d never want to be in that mindset.
I often remember how blessed I am by SIMPLY being born with the color of skin I have and where I was born. Had I just been born from another mother & time, something completely beyond my control, I would have been forced into an unimaginable life. How can that fact be fair in anyone’s mind.
I suspend belief
Those were jew slave ships
We drove by today and I was so happy I did a Google search and found this program. We will definitely come to back to visit when the welcome center is opened.
This just breaks my heart.. No words! 😢
Thank you for this documentary.
Blacks were already here, many of whom were called Indians as Columbus was looking for India and the name was grafted because he called those Blacks Indians. Some of the slave boats are exaggerated. No way could they bring millions of Africans over here by ships or boats. Technology wasn't that good yet, either…
There is plenty of ships … Mary Rose … a boat that was found 437 years after sinking… was extracted. They found coins, combs, etc so as Alabama saying they don’t want to extract it
GOLSON HERE
How did they get ahold of the descendants? I can tell you because I know the story, when the ship was sank, everyone on it settled in a small part of mobile Alabama, and built a community for themselves, which is known today as “Africa town”, and there’s still a few people that live there whose family members were on this ship, speaking with the elders is how they found the ship in the first place, I’ve lived along the tensaw river delta all my life and this isn’t the only ship, they also found an ironclad warship from the civil war in the delta, though I’m not sure if there’s been any updates on it. This river has more history in its waters than most people realize.
I just visited Africatown today and I wanted to share that my spirit was somewhat heavy being there as a direct decendant of Cudjoe. But I'm elated that I got the opportunity to live out this return to where my family first began its journey on these shores.
Nice people! Selling their own people.
These are beautiful stories and so educational. Good not only African Americans to see and hear about but also Caucasian’s To learn what our ancestors done. It’s history, truth. It should be taught and talked about.
That is not a ship. It’s a lie! We were already here.
Good morning American can follow way can make way
Can see London out and group London not out London in saeid
8:59 why does he have a purple rain t-shirt on? This is kind of a serious subject, my grandfather died in Auschwitz, if I was doing an interview for national geographic about his life, I'm 100% not going to wear a Metallica T-shirt! Wouldn't you want to dress a little appropriate out of respect?
This wasn't a slave ship..they didn't find no chicken bones…
Wish i could have a slave 🤪
id treat her nice.
Submarines. Hint

Zora Neale Hurston, a creditless participant indirectly in this, an Anthropologist who recorded, rescued and wrote about her roots and died in misery, alone.
Great NatGeo documentary, thank you 🙏
We really need to be bringing more of this to light, we can’t move forward and the distrust keeps growing because of lack of evidence. It’s harder to know what to believe anymore and that is an injustice to the history and the people.
Unity is needed amongst" ALL BLACK AMERICANS " to renovate and uplift their heritage 😊
They kept everything else regarding slavery but wanted to hide the boats? That doesn't make sense to me.
