This is the story they rarely teach. The Biafra War was not just a civil war; it was a humanitarian catastrophe that led to the deaths of over three million people, most of them Igbo civilians who died from starvation during a devastating blockade.
Before Nigeria existed, the Igbo people had built one of Africa’s most sophisticated civilizations. From the ancient Nri Kingdom to the advanced Igbo-Ukwu bronze works, their history stretches back over a thousand years. But in 1914, colonial borders forced them into a country they never chose.
After independence in 1960, ethnic tension, political crises, military coups, and mass killings of Igbo civilians in 1966 pushed the Eastern Region to declare the Republic of Biafra in 1967. What followed was a brutal 30-month war marked by famine, international politics, global silence, and one of the deadliest humanitarian disasters of the 20th century.
Why did the world look away?
Why was starvation used as a weapon?
And why is the Biafra question still alive today?
This documentary explores:
Igbo history before colonialism
The 1914 amalgamation of Nigeria
The 1966 massacres
The declaration of Biafra
The starvation blockade
International involvement (Britain, Soviet Union, France)
The aftermath and ongoing Biafra movement
This is about truth.
This is about memory.
This is about history.
Watch, learn, and share responsibly.

Thank you for this historical revelation. As a young person in the US, I remember hearing the name Biafra and seeing the children with bloated bellies; the Hutus and the Tutsi. At that time, American Negroes, were brainwashed by news media and politicians to believe the orchestrated genocide was happening to a bunch of in-fighting, backward natives, because we were intentionally disconnected from our own people. Now that the 'veil is split' and the prophecy of understanding, exposure, and awakening spoken of in the Scriptures is coming to fruition, we can see the intent and the extent of the axis of evil. Even though gut-renching and heartbreaking, we seem to be powerless to change anything. We think surely, there must be something we can do, but what? Sometimes it is hard to accept that we must rely only on the truth in the message of Scripture. 2 Chronicles 20:15 says, 'stand still and see the salvation of YAH for the battle is not ours, but YAH's 🙏🏾
Strength through everything 💪🏿this is real. Powerful story, respect for sharing this.👊🏿
